INNOVATION

2024-2025
When my grandma fractured her leg before my sophomore year, I saw the current lack of accessible biomedical devices for recovery and preventing muscular deconditioning. In response, I developed Smartbell, a dumbbell system that combines sensors, computer vision, and a gamified computer program to offer real-time feedback to guide upper-body exercises.

I later presented Smartbell at science fairs, where it received multiple awards. Under the mentorship of Assistant Professor Dr. Tian from Harvard Medical School and Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, I performed volunteer testing and produced a formal research paper. I also acquired patents for Smartbell's software and hardware design and collaborated with HongHe Tech to implement the system into their smart physical-education platform.
